Re: Megiddo
Slightly too late it appears, Hayate enters the area below the volcano. He checks his watch and curses quietly.
The letter he had recived facinated him, as did Gale himself. Perhaps he could find some answers here. Feeling he's missed out on something rather important, Hayate takes a look at the volcano behind him. A rather suspect trail of footprints of varying sizes make their way up the steep slope, and Hayate smiles. A fair way up the slope, he comes across a smashed gate-like structure, with symbols he doesn't recognise carved into it. Surely, this is where the people who invited him to the here went. As he steps in, he hears the faintest hint of echoes from the other end of the passage. Perhaps he isn't so late after all |
Re: Megiddo
Rikali spreads her wings, flapping them three hard, slow times, before she slowly lifts off the ground. Riki watches her, annoyed at the dragon's solitude departure, and slips after Lana.
In her element, the small, once-great dragon is at peace. Her wings are stretched to the limit as she soars over the rubble of the city. Tossing her head to the side, she circles over the compainions and watches them curiously. Gradually, her circles grow to the east as she patrols her part of the city. |
Re: Megiddo
She straightens and shakes her head. "Nevermind it.. Whoever it was has been dead for thousands of years.." She turns and strides away. It probably wasn't smart of her to wander off on her own, but she was tired of standing around, especially with the pile of rubble she saw that reminded her so much of home.
|
Re: Megiddo
Jekin glances at the passage, he though he heard something. However, he was uneasy in his old home, paranoia was an common feeling in this situation. He follows his sister, leaving the rest to make their own groups.
|
Re: Megiddo
In one swift movement, Fury raised his rifle, yanked on the bolt, and shouldered it before he headed out on his own route. His path took him by two empty stone houses that looked like a bomb had been dropped between them.
Cautiously, he stepped around the rubble and looked into the gaping holes in both buildings. Their edges were scorched black. The remnants of a fireplace remained intact against the far wall of the first, and... Three skeletons lay strewn across the floor. Had they not been here, he would have thought the place was destroyed only a week ago. This place was even despressing him now. Fury sighed in pity and continued on, the ground rock crunching all too noisily under his feet. |
Re: Megiddo
Rests his gun on his shoulder as he follows Jekin and Lara. It makes sense to Wessen that they have the most knowledge of the goings-on and layout of the city.
|
Re: Megiddo
Hayate finally reaches the end of the passage and takes a look at the devastated city. He shudders slightly as a few old memories of his own are stirred up by the sight. He tears his eyes away from the ruins to try and find the people who summoned him, but again, people seem to have moved on.
Just as he's about to gived up on the whole thing, a huge shadow flits across him. Taking a look up, he sees a dragon idly circling in the sky. A somewhat familiar dragon, too. He decides to attract her attention by waving and generally signalling. Dragons are predators. Thus, they'll react to movement. Right? |
Re: Megiddo
Right. Rikali notes the movement and circles to the ground. She grins as she recongizes Hayate. ((Since Mr.Hayate just left...)) The two have a short conversation of the current events before Hayate jumps onto the dragon's back and she flies up again, this time with another set of eyes.
Riki watches Lara's back, wanting to find words to comfort her in the aftermath of her homeland's destruction, but finding none in the coming. She trips and scraps her knee, cursing and wincing in pain. |
Re: Megiddo
Wessen falls back a bit and offers Riki a hand up.
You're okay, darlin. Say, any clue as to what happened here? I'd ask Lara, but she seems rather upset even being here. |
Re: Megiddo
In the shadow of one of the desolate structures a lone tall figure stands examining the world around him noting the death that had come upon this place long ago. Having come ahead of where he was supposed to meet the others he had spent his time searching. Now with some more people, one of whom the letter was undoubtedly from, he wandered from his concealmentadjusting his sword on his back with robes flying behind him caught in the wind and into the light noting the large shape rising into the air. Echoing from the building walls the sound of boots crunching on the gravel comes to him. Wanderring towards the spund he rounds one of the many buildings and comes across another man with a rifle drawn and ready. Trying not to look menacing despite his height Bhaal edges slightly towards to man. Hello. I am Bhaal. I don't mean any harm. I have come in response to a request for aid as I take it you may have been. Do you know what exactly is going on?
|
Re: Megiddo
Leon starts to follow the groups roaming the city, while keeping his distance so they may not recognize he is there. He wants to find out what they are doing and if they are here for the search of Gale as well.
|
Re: Megiddo
Lara tilts her head back and sees Wessen and Riki. "Don't fall behind, it's easy to get lost in here."
____ "The Theory of Dimensional Incarnate," He read from the book as he sat on his cliff above the magma chamber bellow. "stated by the oracle Joerin, the exist of Gaia creates masses of energy that represent the afterlife, one of heaven, and one of hell. Manipulating these forces can control the dimensional barrier that seperates this world from the next-" Gale finds the book has no further information, destroied by the Angels, no doubt. He tosses it into the magma bellow and picks up another. After scanning a bit, he continues. "The Key of Hades is hidden where fire meets water....Hah, it's Bevyhral. I'm done he-" Gale looks up to see Fury Three, who surely heard all that he had read. "Reading aloud is a bad habit, isn't it Fury?" ((Not sure if Bhaal is there too. I'm not sure who he ran into)) Note: ((For the whole Gale thing to continue, Fury has to post about calling the other. Feel free to continue searching until then)) |
Re: Megiddo
Wessen shouts back to Lara
Don't worry, sweetheart. We're right behind you. He turns back to Riki. Walk with me, darlin. |
Re: Megiddo
The young girl is compeletly taken aback from Wessen's charm. She nods and stands up, smiling. "Thank you...uhm, I do not believe I caught your name before. I am Riki."
|
Re: Megiddo
Ayn sniffs the air. Death.. the aroma was much stronger here. She looks to her right, finding a wall about 20 or so yards away. She turns and walks towards it, the gravel underneath her feet crunching slightly. Suddenly, there's a much more distinct crack under her right foot. She swallows, afraid to look down.... she had just stepped on the remains of a child.
|
Re: Megiddo
Lara snorts. "You're not gonna get far if you call one woman "sweetheart" and the next "darlin", little boy."
Edit: Edited out the mistake, carry on |
Re: Megiddo
It's merely my way of being friendly. I didn't mean no offense. Wessen shouts back to Lara once again before turning back to Riki. Yes, I know. I hung back a bit and listened till I caught everyone's names before, though I'm fair sure some of them knew I was there. You don't get a lot past these kinds of people, yourself included, I'm sure. I'm Wessen. conniving scoundrel extraordinaire. Wessen brushes a stray skeletal limb from his path with his foot as they walk. Though he pretends not to be bothered by all of the death, something in his stomach sinks even lower than before. ((I think he was encountering Fury Three there, though I might be mistaken on that score my own self.)) Bhaal edit: Yeh it was Fury. The guy who was "crunching all too noisily" and has a rifle. |
Re: Megiddo
"I don't mind, just making a statement." Lara notices a building she remembers, and walks inside. "...There's nothing left anymore." She sighs, this place was starting to take a toll on her.
Jekin, however, took a diffrent approach. He ignored all of his memories, he had a mission and he hadn't let personal feelings get in the way before. This was no diffrent. |
Re: Megiddo
Wessen and Riki come up behind them in the entrance of the building. Wessen wants to ask if there's any significance, but figures that it's just a quick stop for Lara to reminisce. He leans against the old doorsill which is still intact and plays with his gun, spinning it around and whatnot, as he waits for their party to continue.
|
Re: Megiddo
((Doh! Sorry for being so late to post))
Fury spun around to face the voice, weapon raised, but lowered his rifle after a moment. "I've seen you at the Cafe. So you've been invited too? I don't have any real idea what's going on either... Only that we're looking for Gale." When Gale spoke, Fury literally jumped several feet. He shook off the surprise and held his rifle tighter. "Speak of the devil..." ((Heading out for a bit - Back in a few hours)) |
Re: Megiddo
Gale raises and eyebrow. "Invited? Was there a party here that I wasn't told about? That really hurts my feelings." He eyes Bhaal and Fury. "So, Jekin sent for help. Annoying, but not unexpected."
|
Re: Megiddo
A crunch is heard behind one of the buildings near where Jekin's party stands. Out comes a man that knows Lara and Jekin very well, even ran around with them on the same grounds they were standing on. "I've come."
|
Re: Megiddo
Jekin nods. "Nice to see you, One. It's been a very long time. I wish we could have a better reunion, but we're trying to find your brother."
Lara looks over, and is excited to see an old friend. Besides, it gave her something else to think about. "One! Nice to see you! ^_^" |
Re: Megiddo
Noting Fury's alarm at the newcomer Bhaal also turns to face him his hand quickly pulling out his pistol on his belt at the same time holding it ready. So I guess that this must be the illustrious Gale we're supposed to be finding. This probably isn't going to be good. Drawing his eyes from Gale Bhaal looks around for any other possible source of aid.
|
Re: Megiddo
"Indeed, I wish we could have met again under different circumstances and in a more. . . friendlier place." He also felt uncomfortable in the place he once called home "How are you so sure he's here?"
|
Re: Megiddo
"Ergh..." Vincent mumbles too himself as his booted feet send disconcerting echoes through the rubble-filled tunnel he found his way into. Upon arriving at the place mentioned in the letter only to find no one, the child found the trail of footprints leading toward a ruined gate intriguing enough to follow.
Now, hopelessly lost and fingering a small blade in his coat pocket, the child shuffles past long-dead corpses, listening for living echoes. |
Re: Megiddo
Jekin nodded. "As sure as I am that he's not here. Your fathers' old records are here. I assume that's what he was searching for."
___ "If you desire a fight I shall oblige, but your destruction is imminent, especially now that you've heard far more than you should have." Gale raises his hand. ((In attempt to keep other members from getting lost, I will not post as Gale in every post here)) |
Re: Megiddo
"They are? Damnit, I've refused to come here for so long that I didn't even pick those up. Sigh." He looks over Jekins shoulder to see the other two people accompanying them, it's the first time in the conversation that he acknowledges them. "Are they the only ones that showed up?
|
Re: Megiddo
Lara nods and speaks for her brother. "No we split up. Ayn, Fury, Rikali (and Riki) are here. Maybe more, some might of arrived late."
|
Re: Megiddo
Wessen gives One a nod of reguard.
With Megiddo going on, it tends to get people motivated to come help out. Though I know many of us are still waiting to get more of the details. Points his thumbs at himself. Like this guy. |
Re: Megiddo
Lara stretches. "Curiosity killed the cat, Mr. Slade."
|
Re: Megiddo
I'm sure someone is carrying a bullet for me right now and we just haven't met yet.. but I'm pretty sure it isn't curiosity. When I'm in mortal danger, I like to know the details. Call me controlling, but that's just me.
((Okay, I have to go to work so I won't be able to post again until late tonight. I'll be here tomorrow though. Catch you all then.)) |
Re: Megiddo
((Aight, we might go on a bit without you. >< If that happens, just see what ya messed and act like you were there o-o; or be clever. *shrug*))
Lara laughs "Smart boy, I never liked that saying." |
Re: Megiddo
Nods to Wessen, then turns his attention back to Jekin. "Ayn is here? That's sure to bring Gale out. Fury Three. . . and Riki? Hmm, isn't she the mother of the brat? Oh. . . . wait, you two don't know about Rose, do you?" He wondered if they knew about Laena, but he wasn't going to mention anything until they were alone.
|
Re: Megiddo
Jekin shakes his head. "I'm afraid not. But we've spent to much time chatting, we have to keep looking."
|
Re: Megiddo
Leon stares at the group wondering around the town. He continues to follow them wondering whether he should approach them. After a few minutes he decides to walk up to the girl they call Lara and ask her a few things. He silently walks out in front of her."Excuse me but might I ask what is your purpose in this place"? "Oh by the way my name is Leon and yours is Lara correct."
|
Re: Megiddo
"Very well then. We'll have more time to talk later. Right now we must find my brother"
Eyes the newcomer Leon. |
Re: Megiddo
Lara raises an eyebrow. "Who the hell are you?! And what am I doing here? This is no place for you!"
Jekin steps forward. "We're investigating, and what is your purpose her, Mr. Leon?" |
Re: Megiddo
A very fammiliar figure with unusualy spiked blonde hair walks behind the rubbel, careful not alert Bhaal, Fury, or Gale. A gust of wind picked up and the man's red, ripped cloak flew about the air. It smelled faintly of dried blood. He shielded his face from the bits of gravel and dust that came with the wind. His iron left forearm twitched a bit, wires hanging from it. He walked past a small gap in the rubbel and eyed Gale sternly and somewhat sorrowfully. He placed his right hand on the hilt of his gigantic blade and crept closer to the trio. He muttered to himself briefly. "..this won't solve anything, Gale..."
|
Re: Megiddo
Leon looks at Lara for a minute then positions himself towards Jekin. "I'm here on search of a man so called Gale". "I have some things to settle with him and I suppose you also have something to do with him"?
